Everything you need to know about recovering lost items, returning found ones, rewards, verification and safety on Secudox.
Secudox is a lost and found recovery platform for Kenya. It connects people who have lost items with people who found them — safely, with verified identities, admin-moderated listings, secure reward payments held in escrow via Paystack, and community ratings.
Create a free account, go to Report → Lost Item, describe the item, add photos, the date and location it went missing, and optionally set a reward. Every report is reviewed by our moderation team before it becomes publicly visible to protect everyone from fake listings.
Report it as a Found Item. Our team verifies the report is genuine, then notifies the owner if a matching lost item exists. You arrange a safe handover, and once the item is returned, any reward the owner posted is released to you through Secudox.
When posting a lost item you can attach a cash reward. The reward is paid upfront into escrow via Paystack (M-Pesa or card) and held securely by Secudox — the finder is guaranteed to be paid after the item is returned and verified, and the owner is protected because the money is only released when that happens. If no finder comes forward, the owner can request a refund.
Yes. Reporting lost items, browsing, reporting found items, sightings and claims are all free. Secudox only handles the optional reward money an owner chooses to attach, plus payment processing costs.
Multiple layers: every listing goes through human moderation before going live; claimants must submit proof of ownership which our verification team reviews; finders who want reward payouts must complete identity verification (national ID, passport or driving licence); and users can report abuse, spam or fraud directly from any item, user, claim or sighting.
Identity verification confirms who you are before you can receive reward payouts. You upload a government ID and selfie; once approved by our team you become a verified recipient. This keeps scammers out of the payout system and builds trust across the community.
Yes. Secudox supports missing person reports with detailed descriptions, last-seen locations and photos. Child cases are prioritised. The community can submit sighting reports, which our team verifies before they reach the family. Location alerts notify subscribers when a case appears near them.
When a found item is reported, Secudox automatically compares it against active lost reports using text similarity, location proximity (within 25km) and dates (within two weeks). Owners of likely matches get notified immediately instead of waiting to stumble on the listing themselves.
Listings stay publicly visible for 30 days, after which they expire automatically. You can renew an expired listing from your dashboard at any time.
Yes. We follow GDPR-aligned practices: your contact details are never shown publicly without your action, ID documents are stored securely and used only for verification, and you can request full account deletion at any time from your profile. See our Privacy Policy for details.
An Android app is in development and will support push notifications for matches, sightings near you and claim updates. The web platform works fully on mobile browsers today.
